Like anyone who rides MTB’s, I’m a big fan of Loc-On grips. In fact I’d go so far as to say it’s a necessity. These new offerings from WTB offer a slight twist on the conventional approach. They clamp on either end of the grip as normal but instead of a rigid plastic sheath underneath the grip, there is a very minimal thin strip of plastic about 1cm wide that joins the two clamps together. This means that the grip retains a thin, soft feel, akin to non loc-on grips, resulting in extra sensitivity, whilst still being locked to the bars. No gripping the bars with some pipe lagging here. Thin and feely. The white is on-trend and scrubs up well meaning your carefully decked out ride maintains it’s artistic integrity.

Overall the grip does it’s job pretty well. Soft and thin it’s very comfortable and as with all loc-on grips doesn’t rotate around in wet weather but what gives it a unique feel is also its Achilles heel. The lack of reinforcement underneath the soft grip means that with some more heavy handed moves it tends to move around underneath your hands which can be a touch disconcerting.

So comfortable with a good amount of feel but does tend to shift a touch under heavy force. Available in White or Black.
